This time,  the magic came without fighting.   It flowed from my hands and embedded itself into the circle and symbols inscribed on the wall.   The mystic construct was etched into the wall and at least a quarter inch deep.   I had put them there earlier in the day,  using a silver and steel tool to scrape them clean of any imperfection.   As I touched the outer symbols,  the cold blue light of my power flowed into  the grooves and attached itself to the wooden paneled wall with a beautiful and yet ethereal presence.   Once I got done filling the last circle around the outside,  I placed my palm against the center of the circle, said the invocation words and the whole construct started to pulse.   The rhythmic glow and pulse started from the inner circle,  and flowed outwards.   It passed each of the symbols,  and finally ended with the outer circle.   Once the magic took hold,  the circle faded away and a hole appeared where the circles were just a moment before.   Through this hole,  you could see the a bank vault.   In fact,  it was the very vault that I had scratched a symbol on the previous week.

Last week,  I took the time to secure my phone book in a safety deposit box of one of the largest banks in the city.   During my trip,  I inscribed a targeting symbol on the wall using a wax pen.   It shows up clear after application,  so the trick is to make sure that you get the symbol right the first time.   After that,  I simply walked out and waited a week to make sure nobody would remember me.   Then I triggered the magic to create a temporary portal.

OK,  you absolutely have to be asking yourself.   What in the world am I talking about and who the heck am I?  I’m a magician.   The real kind.   Not the stage variety.   Basically,  I protect the world from demon's.   Well,  that’s what I call them anyway.   It has nothing to do with religion,  or Hell or any of that.   These creatures are monsters.   They are things that go bump in the night.   They are the things that poke their hands out of the shadows and drag a person away.   Have you ever wondered where all those people go that get reported as missing every year?   Some of them are killed by your normal humans,  some get lost and are just wondering out of their comfort zone somewhere.   Others simply wondered away from their life and are floating around in Mexico or some other country,  anyway,  you know what I mean.   It’s the last bit that I deal with.   Those people that are simply gone.   Those that end up torn to shreds by some creature or animal,.   Those that die horribly.   And lastly,  the ones that simply die.   No marks or anything.   Those are the worst kind.   In those cases,  a demon has sucked the very soul out of a person. That’s what I fight.   The sad truth is that there aren’t very many of us magicians.   We are known as The Brotherhood among ourselves.   In the past,  we were called many different things.   All that is water under the bridge really though.   What we are called makes no difference.   We are outside society,  outside governments,  outside everything.   We do this to keep average people safe from demon's.   That’s the theory anyway.   I personally think we do it to keep them safe from ourselves too.

OK,  so yes.   If I’m such a good guy,  why the heck am I breaking into a bank?   That’s a really good question.  It turns out that being a good guy doesn’t the pay well at all.   How am I expected to do what I need to do in today’s society when I have no job,  no income and no base of operations.   Well,  the simple answer is that any funds I liberate from this bank,  get replaced by the insurance company.   Speaking of that,  we'll,  I found out that this particular bank is going to be robbed tonight by the local outfit.   I heard some of their goons talking about the hit and decided to get in on the action.   I’m going in before they do to skim a bit off the top.   That way,  I get paid,  the outfit gets paid,  and thanks to the miniature security camera I’m leaving in place behind me,  the outfit will end up doing time on this one.   I will be leaving it hidden with a spell over my exit portal.  That way when dawn hits,  the spell will dissipate and the police will find a nifty little gift wrapped piece of evidence.   And there for a minute,  you thought I was your regular criminal didn’t you.   To be fair,  i’m a new trainee.   There have never been many of us,  and my master barely got done with my training before he died.   In fact,  I had just gotten to the part where he actually let me use magic when it happened.   So,  long story short,  I’m rather new at this.
Magic's Touch
I was incredibly bored the other day waiting to clock in at work, so I hooked a keyboard into my phone and went to town.  The real question is, should I continue?

Also note, I apologize for the weird spacing in the paragraphs.  I'm posting this from my phone and text editing is limited.

December Desktop
Well, I've taken a bit step.  As some of you know, I'm a huge gamer.  I deleted Windows, and moved to Linux as my primary OS.  This is my current machine setup.

Mad props to Prostyle43 for :thumb395073546: (prostyle43.deviantart.com/art/…)

It's not often that something that's not my own creation makes it to my desktop.

Let me know what you think.
